Client Group Accounts
What is a Client Group Account?
A Client Group Account is similar to a regular client account but includes a special Group Account flag, offering enhanced functionality for linking and managing multiple client accounts.
Key Features of Client Group Accounts
1. Ways to Use the Group Account Feature:
As a Joint Account:
A Group Account can consolidate data from multiple individuals, such as family members, into one shared account. This allows you to manage data for everyone together without needing separate individual accounts for each family member.
As a Nominated Group Account with Linked Individual Client Accounts:
You can designate a Main Group Account that links to individual client accounts (e.g., individuals, trusts, companies). These individual client accounts hold their own data but are linked to the main Group Account, enabling streamlined client management.
Combination of Approaches:
You can combine both approaches. For instance, you may manage some clients as a single Group Account (joint account), while linking other individuals with their own separate client accounts, all under the same Group Account for easier management.
2. Linking Accounts:
Single Linkage:
Each client account can only be linked to one Group Account at a time.
Group Account Restrictions:
If a client account designated as a Group Account needs to be linked to another Group Account, it will automatically lose its Group Account status, and any existing linkages will be removed. To make this change, click the Edit button under the Client Group Details tab in the Client Profile page.
3. Adding or Editing Client Group Details:
During Client Creation:
You can add a Group Account when creating a new client.
After Client Creation:
If the client has already been created, you can edit or add the Group Account details by navigating to Manage > Summary> Set up tab (or) Manage > Profile > Client Group Details tab.
4. Switching Between Accounts:
Once linked to a Group Account, you can easily switch between different client accounts within the group. To do so, click the down arrow next to the Client name at the top of the page.
Future Features (Coming Soon):
Group Member Access:
We are working on a feature that will allow clients linked a Group Account to access other accounts in the group via the Client Portal, as long as the appropriate permissions are granted.
Feedback:
We always value your input. If you have any suggestions or feedback to help improve the Client Group Accounts feature, please contact us via our support email.
